Who we are

A caring adult, a clear path, and the skills to get there.

Building Brighter Futures Initiative (BBFI) is a community-based nonprofit dedicated to empowering children, youth, and young adults ages 8–24. We combine educational enrichment, mentorship, workforce development, independent-living preparation, mental-wellness support, and family engagement into one connected journey.

We believe every young person deserves access to caring adults, real opportunities, and practical life skills. Through evidence-informed programming and strong community partnerships, we help participants overcome barriers, build confidence, and become thriving members of their communities.

Our story

Rooted in one belief: potential is everywhere.

Brighter Futures grew out of Seasoned Transitional Living's frontline work with young adults leaving care and navigating independence. Time and again we saw the same truth: talent is universal, but opportunity is not. So we built a hub that surrounds young people with the relationships, resources, and skills to close that gap.

Founded and led by Antoniett Nelson, our team partners with schools, agencies, employers, and families to turn possibility into a plan — and a plan into a launch.
